Skillbuild 2011

Once again, Dodds Roofing are going to be represented in the Skill Build Competition.  Our apprentices, Alex and Kev will compete in the first round which takes place at Leeds College of Building in May.

Heritage Skills

The skills and experience of four of our employees have been formally recognised and they have been awarded gold CSCS cards in Heritage skills - Roof Slating and Tiling.

Example of Heritage works carried out Swiss Cottage at Castle Howard, where we fitted Sandtoft Humber clay plain tiles in a diamond formation using spearhed tiles and finial ridges in two colours.

Pride of Driffield 2010

Dodds Roofing Services have been awarded the Business of the Year Award in the Driffield Times Pride of Driffield 2010 award ceremony.

MCS Accreditation

Dodds Roofing have successfully passed our first MCS (The Microgeneration Certification Scheme) inspection and are now certified to carry out and commission Solar PV installations.  Please see our website www.doddssolar.co.uk for more information on our Solar PV services.

Skillbuild Final

We are proud to have been represented in the final of the National SkillBuild Competition by our Apprentice, Kev Barker.  As a Second Year student at Leeds College, Kev was up against competitors both older and more experienced then himself but he put up an impressive fight and produced first class work throughout the competition.  Well Done Kev!

Apprentice of the Year

Congratulations to our apprentice Kev who has won the second year award for Roof Slating & Tiling "Apprentice of the Year" at Leeds College of Building.  Kev has now completed his NVQ level 2 and will return to college in September to begin working towards his NVQ level 3.  Kev will be presented with his award at a ceremony to be held at Leeds College of Building in October.

The Driffield Show

Dodds Roofing have just confirmed to exhibit at The Driffield Show on the 21st July 2010. This coincides with the recent launch of our new Solar Photovoltaic services.

National SkillBuild Competition

Congratulations to our Apprentice Kev, who has been successful in the regional heats and will now go on to compete nationally in the SkillBuild Competition this year.

New Tesco Contract

We are pleased to announce that we have won a major contract in the form of a Tesco superstore in Penistone, West Yorkshire. The project will commence at the end of May and will be completed within 7 weeks of the start date.

As Tesco say "every little helps", this is a motto Dodds Roofing firmly believe in. Every member of our team is crucial to the success of Dodds Roofing, from the apprentice roofer to the fully trained technician, from the admin staff to the company directors we all have our part to play. We believe in team work and will do what we can to ensure all of our projects are completed successfully.

SMSTS Qualifications

Congratulations to Glen and Josh who have recently completed the in depth SMSTS Qualification.

SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) is one of the most highly regarded construction courses available for site managers.  It ensures that Managers have a full understanding of their responsibilities and accountability for site safety, health and welfare, current health and safety legislation.

Dodds Roofing Implements CRB Checks

As part of our commitment to ensure we continually meet our customers needs we have started to implement Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) checks on our employees.

Since 1995 Dodds Roofing Services Ltd has been providing roofing solutions to a wide variety of private individuals and varying market sectors. Some of these such as the education industry and the elderly are classed as ‘vulnerable groups’. To provide peace of mind as well as meeting any regulations and guidelines imposed, we have started to undertake CRB checks on our site personnel.

Josh successfully completes SSSTS

We would like to congratulate Josh on his successful completion of the Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS).  The course is designed for first line managers and provides delegates an overview of their responsibilities for health and safety on construction sites.

This is just another step that Dodds Roofing is undertaking to ensure we maintain our high site safety record and the continual investment in our employees. Andy who also completed this course last year recently commented on the value of this scheme and how it helps to ensure our site supervisors are knowledgeable and understand their role and legal responsibilities.
