Cast Iron Rainwater Goods
Cast Iron rainwater goods are available in a range of traditional gutter profiles with either round or square outlets. Dodds Roofing Services Ltd can supply and Install all cast iron rainwater goods in all profiles including the associated fixings and accessories to suit your individual project requirements.

Plastic Rainwater Goods (UPVc)
Dodds Roofing Services Ltd can supply UPVc Rainwater Systems in various profiles for domestic applications. All PVCu rainwater goods will be manufactured to British Standard 4576 or hold a current British Agrément Certificate.
Dodds Roofing Services Ltd can now provide and install UPVc rainwater goods in the appearance of cast iron. Available in three systems that provide an authentic cast iron look, but have all the cost and installation benefits of PVC

Wood
Wood is the oldest form of guttering. Popular until the 20th century, when wood was replaced by cheaper plastic and metal alternatives. Wooden guttering has the lowest environmental impact.
To ensure durability, correct choice of wood is vital. Suitable species include Scots pine, Pitch pine, Sweet chestnut and Elm.
Maintenance includes repainting of the outside and re-oiling of the inside (if no lining) on a regular basis. Wood performs best when un-painted. Painting increases drying time after rain.
Durability can be increased by lining the gutter with single-ply roof covering, bitumen or specialist wood oil.
Copper
Copper is a popular choice for rainwater goods in Europe. Its main attraction is its resistance to corrosion. Copper naturally oxidizes to a verdigris* patina over a period of time (though this process can be artificially stimulated).
Copper is a very limited resource. Optimists expect 60 years but some think it more like 25 years before supplies are exhausted.
Historically copper was smelted, but modern production involves dissolving ore in sulphuric acid, then extracting pure copper through electrolysis.
Copper can be toxic in sufficient concentrations. Combining copper rainwater goods with harvested drinking water is not advised.
* Verdigris is the common name for the green coating or patina formed when copper, brass or bronze is weathered and exposed to air or seawater over a period of time.
FASCIAS & SOFFITS
UPVc Fascias
UPVc Fascias provide a low maintenance alternative to the traditional alternative of timber. No painting is necessary throughout the lifespan of UPVc and with a minimum thickness of 18mm they are sufficiently strong enough to be attached direct to the roof timbers. Available in standard profile or a distinctive sculpted ogee style UPVc fascias will complement any style of home. To give you ultimate peace of mind all UPVc fascias are supplied with the benefit of a 20-year guarantee against discolouration, warping and cracking
UPVc fascias can be supplied in the following colour options to suit your home, be it new build or an existing property:

We can also supply colour-matched fixing pins and corner trims to suit the above colour schemes.
Timber Fascias – The Traditional and ECO friendly choice
Available in Hardwood and Softwood, Dodds Roofing Services can supply and install timber fascias in all shapes and sizes. We can provide and install off the shelf profiles or we can offer a unique service to match the existing profiles on your property. We also offer a Bespoke Manufacturing service for unusual designs and patterns.
We ensure all our timber used for fascias is FSC certified which enforces the need for sustainable forests to ensure the protection and continued support to our environment.
Timber has the lowest carbon footprint of most common building materials. Using timber encourages the expansion of forestry with the consequent reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere.
