CHAS - Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (Section 2(3)) places a duty on employers who have five or more people to have a written statement of their health and safety policy and to have a sound understanding of health and safety legislation as it applies to their business.

A CHAS Assessment is a check that a Contractor complies with Health & Safety legislation as it affects their business and that they have documented their management of it.

We were successfully assessed by CHAS in September 2007 and then again in September 2008.
